The 2025 cohort registrations for 42 Tirana open in February and end in August.
“Piscine” is the French word for “swimming pool.” You will spend one month diving deep into our methods to find out whether 42 really is made for you or not.
We are open for registrations for two Piscine sessions:
1st Piscine | June 2 – 27 |
2nd Piscine | July 7 – August 1 |
The Meetings are organised in the months preceding the Piscines. Places are limited.
The program is three years-long on average, with a first part – the core curriculum – lasting more than 18 months.
The 42 certificate is issued when the student decides to end their training after having completed the core curriculum. It comes as a testament to the fact that a student has obtained the final level at 42. Depending on the student’s personal pathway, it ranges from level 9 (completion of the core curriculum) to level 21 (validation of several thematic branches, available in the curriculum, which may include periods of professionalization).
The 42 training is intense. It is not recommended to have a full-time job on the side. A part-time job is more reasonable, but it will require serious personal discipline.
You can transfer to another campus in the 42 network once you have completed the common core (the first part of the 42 curriculum).
42 Tirana’s pedagogical team examines requests for breaks in the curriculum and must approve them before they can be taken.
42 Tirana may offer apprenticeship opportunities through its network of industry partners and beyond. However, apprenticeships must be earned and cannot be guaranteed.
42 Tirana or any other campus around the world do not ask for any prior diploma or coding experience.
Even though 42’s pedagogy is open to all and supports atypical profiles, we do not encourage dropping out of high school. Therefore, we do not recommend the program to students under the age of 18.
Any person 18 or above can apply to 42. There is no upper age limit.
The program at 42 Tirana is completely tuition-free. There are no hidden fees, now or after.
The training program at 42 is unique: there are no “years” and every step of the way is mandatory. Everyone starts at the beginning of the program but each student progresses at his or her own pace. It is not possible to join 42 in the middle of the program.
42 Tirana hosts “Open Days.” The dates are announced on the campus website and official social media channels. However, once the campus officially opens, it will remain open 24/7. Organized visits can be scheduled by appointment via contact@42tirana.org at the appropriate time.
You can pre-register for the Piscine after passing the online games and attending an Introduction Meeting on campus or online.
In order to confirm your registration to a Piscine, you need to complete two steps:
The selection criteria are not disclosed. There is only one rule: during the Piscine, give everything you’ve got. This is the only way you’ll know if 42’s method and pedagogy suit your expectations.
There are no selection quotas at 42 Tirana. Some slots for the Meeting and the Piscine are temporarily reserved to allow women to register over a longer period of time.
You can take up to 2 Piscines in your lifetime, on all campuses of 42 and its partners. A minimum of 300 days between these 2 Piscines must be respected.
All the application steps – from the online games to the Piscine – should be completed on the same campus.
You will have to start your year on the campus where you took your Piscine. If you took your Piscine in Tirana, you will have to start your year in Tirana.
As a rule of thumb, 42’s curriculum can be done in English on any 42 campus. Basic level of the local language is recommended to ease your mingling in the local student life.
Foreign students who wish to study in 42 Tirana (Albania) must apply for a type D visa at the Albanian embassy or consulate in their home country.
For short visits, foreign students who are interested can enter Albania under the general visa rules or the visa-free regime, depending on their nationality. For more information, please contact the Albanian Embassy in your country.
Please note that a student visa (type D) is granted only for long-term programs and cannot be issued for participation in the Meeting or the Piscine.
Yes, you can: the process is the same for everyone. However, the 42 curriculum cannot be completed remotely. You must be able to attend the campus physically, both for the Piscine and the curriculum.
